JOB SUMMARY

The Tank & Vessel Engineer is responsible for providing management and engineering support for storage tank design/detail drafting which includes pre-contract design and specification review.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for oversite of tank calculations, tank design, and detail drafting
  • Management of engineering support for shop fabrication/field construction
  • Assist field crews with problem solving
  • Assist in developing of project execution plans, and provide completion project data books
  • Check and/or generate detailed designs for vessels using AutoCad and TechnoSoft AME tank software
  • Contribute to success of on time projects, within budgets, while applying client specifications and industry standards to contracted work scope
  • Be experienced with the detail and design of API storage tanks stainless steel, duplex, and normal C.S. vessels
  • Apply industry standards and codes to all job specifications (calculations & drawings); particularly as relates to APl-650, APl-620, AWWA 0 -100, and APl- 653 Standards of Construction
  • Select materials of construction required for specific jobs and identify the availably and schedule for procurement.
  • Initiate “Bills of Materials” and requisitions for procurement prior to shop fabrication
  • Generate and maintain accurate job aid for duties assigned
  • Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred
  • 5 – 7 yrs. experience in tank & vessel fabrication/construction; oversite of design drafting
  • Preferred experience: working for an APl-650 Storage Tank fabricator/constructor: designing, detailing, and drafting of storage tanks including Stainless Steel, Duplex, and Carbon Steel vessels
  • Knowledge in heavy and industrial construction preferred

  • Strong analytical skills required to understand and interpret data
  • Strong math skills and be proficient in use of US customary unit’s ft., in., lbs., psi, etc.
  • Proficient knowledge in Construction Industry Standards
  • Must be detail oriented with excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to complete work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet department targets and deadlines
  • Proficient knowledge of API-650, API-620, AWWA D-100, and API-653 Standards of Construction
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams) and Zoom
  • Proficient knowledge and experience in AutoCAD (5-7 years’ experience) and TechnoSoft AME Tank
  • Ability to quickly learn the organizations systems
  • Ability and willingness to travel as required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting constantly
  • Will work in an office and job site setting (indoors/outdoors)
  • Ability to operate a computer and other office productivity
  • Constantly perform repeating motions that may include wrists, hands and/or fingers
  • Frequently communicate with other members of the team. Must be able to exchange accurate information in a clear manner
  • Work that includes moving and/or lifting objects up to 50 pounds
