Job Summary:

The Demolition Technician will be responsible for hot work, torch cutting, fire watch, flagging, spotting, and general clean-up of items from site. He/she will be responsible for operating safely and to the right quality standards.

Essential Functions:

  • Well versed in working with and around small equipment and knowledge of how they work
  • Use and understand all safety requirements of excavations and trenches
  • Remain actively aware of surroundings near the equipment to maintain safe operation and distances from potential hazards including but not limited to other equipment, other workers, power lines or falling objects
  • Coordinate machine functions with team members in response to hand and audio signals
  • Work with foreman, superintendent, project manager, and team to ensure job is done to specifications
  • Maintain assigned equipment and perform daily inspections to ensure compliance with operational and safety requirements including but not limited to checking fuel, oil, and/or hydraulic levels
  • Ensure compliance of all safety procedures and policies while promoting safety culture
  • Generate and maintain accurate job aid for duties assigned
  • Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned

Education and Experience Requirement:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum 2 years of industrial, civil, concrete or construction demolition experience
  • Knowledge of heavy construction industry

Skills / Key Competencies:

  • Ability to use and have knowledge torch cutting or some welding background
  • Knowledge or background of proper rigging and procedures for moving and handling small objects and lifts
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with customers and employees at all levels
  • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, to ensure safety and conformance with state and local rules and regulations
  • Good safety history and a willingness to engage and contribute to ongoing safe work practices
  • Must be proactive and plan accordingly, self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment in the industrial construction market
  • Ability to follow direction and work within parameters established by management and the client
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Must possess a current and valid driver’s license

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently required to use hands and arms, stand, walk, sit, climb, stoop, kneel or crouch
  • Subject to continuous bouncing, shaking and equipment vibration throughout the work shift
  • Will work in an outdoor setting
  • Constantly perform repeating motions that may include wrists, hands and/or fingers
  • Frequently communicate with other members of the team. Must be able to exchange accurate information in a clear manner
  • Ability to push/pull/manipulate hand tools up to 54 ft./lbs
  • Ability to push/pull, open/close engine housing hatches up to 25-46 ft./lbs
  • Ability to lift/load/carry up to 55 lbs., including but not limited to fittings, generators, equipment, and or other various materials
  • Ability to climb into and out of equipment
  • Ability to reach above head and 6-inches with fine gross motor skill
