Interning at Bay Ltd.

  |   News

Each year Bay Ltd. gives individuals the opportunity, through the internship program, to work in various departments within the company over the summer months. Internship programs are an important experience for an intern to gain personal experience, employable skills as well as professional interest.

This summer we had the pleasure of hiring interns who were driven, hardworking, and a wonderful asset to the company.

Some Interns were asked about their experience and what they gained in the few months during their internship on a professional level outside of the classroom. Here is what they had to say about their experience:

TAYLOR (Texas A&M Corpus Christi):

What has been your favorite thing about interning here at Bay Ltd.?

One of my favorite things about this internship has been the variability of day-to-day assignments, monotony is something I try to avoid and this internship has been good about keeping my tasks throughout the day varied.

What is something that you have learned here that you have not learned in the classroom?

Learning to use the total station for surveying work on modules has definitely been a break from what is taught in the labs and classrooms at school.

LITA (Texas A&M Kingsville):

What has been your favorite thing about interning here at Bay Ltd.?

Meeting new people and experiencing work in a corporate setting.

What is something that you have learned here that you haven’t learned in the classroom?

  • Excel is a big one.  So much of what is done in the Accounting department utilizes Excel.  The classroom exposes students to a small fraction.
  • Using e-mail as a form of inter-office communication as well as Microsoft Lync
  • The process of being hired; HR forms, safety orientation, drug test

SETH (Texas A&M Kingsville):

What has been your favorite thing about interning here at Bay Ltd.?

My favorite thing about the internship at Bay is how the company really works together and is very welcoming.

What is something that you have learned here that you have not learned in the classroom?

Something that I have learned here at Bay that I have not learned in the classroom is how to use Excel efficiently in a work setting.
