JOB SUMMARY

This role is responsible for safely producing accurate steel plate components from production drawings and cut files while maintaining quality standards, material traceability, and production efficiency. Must be able to operate and maintain CNC cutting equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Operate CNC plasma and oxy-fuel cutting tables to cut steel plate according to production requirements
  • Load raw material onto cutting tables using overhead crane or forklift
  • Read and interpret shop drawings, cut lists, nesting layouts, and work orders
  • Set up cutting programs, consumables, torch height, gas settings, and machine parameters
  • Monitor cutting quality and make adjustments to ensure dimensional accuracy and edge quality
  • Perform basic machine maintenance and daily inspections
  • Remove slag and clean finished parts as needed
  • Mark, sort, and organize cut parts for downstream fabrication
  • Maintain material identification and traceability
  • Coordinate with fabrication, welding, and production teams to meet schedules
  • Follow all shop safety procedures and PPE requirements
  • Keep work area clean and organized
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends
  • Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Driver’s license
  • Forklift and overhead crane certification preferred
  • Experience with operating CNC plasma cutting equipment. Messer preferred
  • Familiarity with steel plate handling and fabrication shop environments
  • Willingness to learn construction safety practices

  • Ability to read fabrication drawings and blueprints
  • Ability to safely operate overhead cranes and forklifts
  • Strong communicator with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively across all levels delivering on commitments – results oriented.
  • Ability to complete work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to quickly learn the organizations systems.
  • Must be able to work non-routine hours, when necessary.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time which may consist of 8 or more hours
  • Ability to work indoors in a non-climate controlled environment
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another constantly perform repeating motions with feet, leg, wrists, hands and/or fingers to include walking, standing, kneeling, crouching, twisting, bending, gripping, climbing
  • Ability to climb ladders, stairs and scaffolds
  • Ability to frequently walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions
  • Work that includes moving and/or lifting objects up to 50 pounds.
