JOB SUMMARY

The Bus Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of passengers to designated work site locations. This position plays an important role in maintaining safe, efficient, and timely transportation while ensuring compliance with company policies, traffic laws, and all applicable safety regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to safety, a good driving record, and the ability to interact professionally with passengers.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Complete required paperwork such as vehicle inspection logs, incident reports, and passenger counts
  • Ensure the bus operates on time according to the scheduled route and pick-up/drop-off times. Notify the dispatcher of any delays or changes in schedule
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the bus is in proper working order. Report any maintenance issues or safety concerns to the appropriate department.
  • Provide excellent customer service, addressing passenger inquiries, concerns, and complaints professionally and promptly
  • Respond to emergencies, including accidents or vehicle malfunctions, following appropriate safety protocols.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • At least 3 years of passenger driving
  • Able to pass a DOT physical & drug screen
  • CDL with Passenger Endorsement (Class B)
  • Good driving record
  • TWIC card preferred

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgement when handling day to day information
  • Excellent time-management skills to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities to meet deadlines and adjust to changing priorities
  • Ability to work cooperatively across all levels delivering on commitments – results oriented
  • Ability to complete work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet department targets and deadlines
  • Ability to work non-routine hours, when necessary
  • Ability and willingness to travel as required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to work outdoors, exposed to heat and humidity, cold and rain, and around heavy traffic areas
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another
  • Ability to operate job related tools
  • Constantly perform repeating motions that may include feet, leg, wrists, hands and/or fingers
  • Work that includes moving and/or lifting objects up to 50 pounds, carry at least 30 pounds and up to 150 pounds with help
