JOB SUMMARY
The Handyman / Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine maintenance and minor repairs across the corporate headquarters and off-site office locations. This role ensures facilities are safe, functional, well-maintained, and present a professional appearance for employees, clients, and visitors.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Perform general maintenance and small repairs, including:
- Drywall patching, painting, and touch-ups
- Minor plumbing repairs (leaks, fixtures, clogged drains)
- Basic electrical work (replacing outlets, switches, lighting)
- Door, lock, hinge, and hardware repairs
- Furniture assembly, relocation, and adjustments
- Conduct routine inspections to identify maintenance needs and safety issues
- Respond to maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner
- Perform preventative maintenance to reduce downtime and repair costs
- Maintain clean and organized mechanical, storage, and work areas
- Track completed work, materials used, and maintenance issues
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies
- Support office moves, setup, and special projects as assigned
- Ensure compliance of all safety procedures and policies while promoting company’s safety culture
- Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Proven experience as a handyman, maintenance technician, or similar role
- Strong working knowledge of general building maintenance systems
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve basic repair issues independently
- Familiarity with hand and power tools
- Good time management and organizational skills
- Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
- Ability to lift up to [75] lbs and perform physical tasks (standing, bending, climbing ladders)
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between locations
SKILLS / KEY COMPETENCIES
- Facilities or building maintenance certification preferred
- Experience supporting corporate or commercial office environments
- Basic knowledge of HVAC systems
- OSHA or safety training
- Safety-focused with attention to detail
- Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Exercise discretion and independent judgement when handling day to day information
- Ability to work cooperatively across all levels delivering on commitments – results oriented
- Ability to complete work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work non-routine hours, when necessary
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to work outdoors, exposed to heat and humidity, cold and rain, and around heavy traffic areas
- Ability to operate job related tools
- Constantly perform repeating motions that may include feet, leg, wrists, hands and/or fingers
- Work that includes moving and/or lifting objects up to 50 pounds, carry at least 50 pounds and up to 150 pounds with help
