JOB SUMMARY

The journeyman electrician will install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Installs power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment
  • Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment
  • Connect cables and wire between machine and equipment
  • Diagnose malfunctioning electrical apparatus
  • Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components
  • Replace faulty electrical components of machines such as relays, switches, motors, and position sensing devices
  • May diagnose, repair, or replace faulty electronic components, such as printed circuit boards
  • May plan layout of wiring and install wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus to buildings
  • Use a variety of tools or equipment such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment, such as oscilloscopes, ammeters, or test lamps
  • Knowledge of arithmetic
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Ensure compliance of all safety procedures and policies while promoting company’s safety culture
  • Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • At least 3 years’ experience as an electrician
  • NCCER or Journeyman’s electrical license

SKILLS / KEY COMPETENCIES

  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in construction
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgement when handling day to day information
  • Excellent time-management skills to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities to meet deadlines and adjust to changing priorities
  • Ability to work cooperatively across all levels delivering on commitments – results oriented
  • Ability to complete work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet department targets and deadlines
  • Ability to work non-routine hours, when necessary
  • Ability and willingness to travel as required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to work outdoors, exposed to heat and humidity, cold and rain, and around heavy traffic areas
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another
  • Ability to operate job related tools
  • Constantly perform repeating motions that may include feet, leg, wrists, hands and/or fingers
  • Work that includes moving and/or lifting objects up to 50 pounds, carry at least 30 pounds and up to 150 pounds with help
