Established 1953
Our History
Bay Ltd.'s journey began over 70 years ago when Mr. Marvin L. Berry founded Berry Contracting, Inc. in 1953. Driven by integrity and vision, Mr. Berry was dedicated to delivering top-notch construction services that fueled the growth of South Texas. He believed, "Progress is achieved only through producing quality service and products with top-quality facilities and personnel. We are fortunate in having an abundance of both." Through relentless effort and innovation, Berry Contracting, Inc. quickly became a leader in major construction projects, expanding far beyond the Coastal Bend.

A Vision is born.
In the 1950s, Marvin Berry embarked on a journey, relocating his family from Houston, Texas with a vision to provide quality construction services and industrial growth in South Texas. His entrepreneurial vision and dedication to excellence laid the foundation for what would become Bay Ltd., then known as Berry Contracting.
‘We believe progress is achieved only through producing quality service and products with top-notch facilities and personnel. We are fortunate in having an abundance of both.’
Out of the Ruins, B-FAB Evolves
In 1961, after Hurricane Carla struck the Texas coast, Galveston’s Pleasure Pier boardwalk was left beyond repair. While much of the site was slated for demolition, Marvin Berry saw opportunity in what remained and acquired the structure. The site became Berry Fabrication Shop, the first major fabrication facility and a defining milestone in Bay Ltd.’s early growth.
Amplifying Oceanic Access
In the mid-1970s, Bay Ltd. began construction of the Berry Building, a key milestone in our growth. During this period, Bay Ltd.’s Corpus Christi dock became fully operational, providing vital waterway access and enabling us to ship large-scale projects efficiently. This expansion further enhanced our capabilities and gained accessibility to international markets.
The Port of Corpus Christi is the third-largest oil export port in the world and the largest in North America.
Pioneering Modular Refining
In the 1990's, building on our historic relationships with some of the most reputed refineries in the industry, we took a significant step forward by producing one of the first-ever modular refineries in Siberia. This project not only exemplified our dedication to efficiency and refinery construction but also set a precedent for future modular refinery developments in remote and challenging environments. Paving the way for the future production of modules.
Global Horizons
In the 2000's, Bay Ltd. played a vital role in supporting one of the largest and most advanced oil sands projects in the world, located in Canada's oil sector. Amidst a dire workforce gap in the region, Bay Ltd. was able to ensure the success of this project by introducing an alternative temporary foreign workers’ labor model unique to our team's international expertise. This endeavor highlighted Bay Ltd.'s expertise in managing complex energy infrastructure on a global scale.
Doubling Down on the Gulf Coast
In 2018, Bay Ltd. acquired the North Yard, now our flagship facility, expanding our Gulf Coast footprint by hundreds of acres, bringing our total coastal indoor fabrication capacity to an impressive 480,000 square feet. This expansion allows us to streamline operations and enhance efficiency, positioning us to better serve our clients. This growth enhances our ability to meet increasing industry demands and further solidifies our presence as a leader in fabrication and construction services.
Building on a Legacy,Driving the Future
In the 2020s, Bay Ltd. continues to uphold its commitment to people, culture, and community while positioning itself for the future. From Marvin Berry’s vision in the 1950s to global milestones achieved across decades, our growth has been guided by a steadfast belief in innovation, collaboration, and excellence as the cornerstones of progress.
Today, this legacy informs our forward-looking approach. We prioritize the development and safety of our people, strengthen partnerships, and create opportunities that not only enhance our operations but also contribute to the communities we serve.
As we navigate an evolving industry landscape, Bay Ltd. remains dedicated to advancing through strategic innovation, operational excellence, and a clear focus on long-term sustainability.
“Great companies are not built by projects alone—they are built by people. At Bay Ltd., we construct more than structures; we build opportunities, relationships, and a better tomorrow.” – Inspired by Marvin Berry’s Vision
