JOB SUMMARY

The Concrete Finisher is responsible for placing, finishing, restoring, and curing concrete for large-scale industrial and mission-critical construction projects, including data centers, manufacturing facilities, and other heavy commercial structures. This position works primarily on structural foundations, slab-on-grade placements, equipment pads, grade beams, and other cast-in-place concrete elements to ensure finished concrete meets project specifications, quality standards, and schedule requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Place, spread, level, consolidate, and finish concrete for large foundations, slabs, equipment pads, grade beams, pile caps, and other structural concrete elements.
• Operate and maintain hand and power finishing tools, including screeds, bull floats, hand floats, edging tools, groovers, power trowels, and vibratory equipment.
• Strike off concrete to established grades and elevations using laser levels, screeds, and other layout tools.
• Finish concrete to specified tolerances, surface profiles, and flatness/levelness (FF/FL) requirements.
• Apply finishing techniques such as floating, troweling, edging, broom finishing, and burnishing as required by project specifications.
• Assist with the placement and finishing of fiber-reinforced concrete when specified.
• Monitor concrete set times and adjust finishing operations based on weather conditions, mix designs, and project requirements.
• Install and finish construction joints, expansion joints, control joints, and embedded materials.
• Perform concrete patching, repair, grinding, and surface correction as required.
• Protect newly placed concrete through proper curing methods, including curing compounds, wet curing, coverings, and environmental protection.
• Coordinate work with Form Builders, Rodbusters, Concrete Laborers, Equipment Operators, Survey personnel, and Quality Control staff.
• Inspect finished work to ensure compliance with project specifications, dimensional tolerances, and quality requirements.
• Maintain tools and equipment in safe operating condition.
• Follow all company safety policies, environmental requirements, and quality procedures.
• Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• High School Diploma or GED required
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred
• Experience finishing concrete on industrial, commercial, heavy civil, or mission-critical construction projects preferred.

SKILLS / KEY COMPETENCIES

• Experience with large slab placements and structural foundation work is highly desirable.
• Ability to read construction drawings, elevations, and concrete placement plans.
• Working knowledge of concrete placement techniques, curing methods, and finishing standards.
• Ability to safely operate power trowels, screeds, vibrators, and other finishing equipment.
• Knowledge of structural concrete construction practices.
• Ability to achieve specified floor flatness (FF) and floor levelness (FL) tolerances.
• Familiarity with fiber-reinforced concrete systems and large mass concrete placements.
• Ability to recognize and correct surface defects, honeycombing, scaling, cracking, and other finishing issues.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to work effectively under demanding schedules while maintaining safety and quality standards.
• Ability to work outdoors, exposed to heat and humidity, cold and rain, and around heavy traffic areas
• Work that includes moving and/or lifting objects up to 50 pounds, carry at least 30 pounds and up to 150 pounds with help
• Ability to frequently walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions
