JOB SUMMARY
The Heavy Crane Shop Supervisor is responsible for a combination of duties from competence, mentorship, and leadership. Promote the company safety program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Ensure that employees comply with and enforce all company Safety, health and environmental policies and procedures
- Communicating expectations to employees
- Ensure that employees are safety trained prior to performing the work assigned to them
- Treat employees fairly and with respect
- Conduct and participate weekly safety meetings, toolbox, monthly and special meetings
- Responsible for quality control of multiple types of all-terrain cranes and mobile hydraulic cranes to include troubleshooting and repairs done by the technicians
- Ability to work with diagnostic equipment for troubleshooting and repairs
- Evaluate and make recommendations regarding repairs and maintenance of equipment
- Complete all appropriate documentation and ensures records of all maintenance activities are kept
- Report details as needed to vendors for warranty coverage
- Read, understand, and interpret correctly operating manuals, parts manuals, and technical drawings
- Understand and comply with all safety and environmental requirements
- Ensure compliance of all safety procedures and policies while promoting company’s safety culture
- Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or GED required
- At least 5 years’ experience in crane maintenance and repair with a credited crane company
- Experience with crane equipment and operation. Must have certifications from manufactures or equivalent.
- Advance knowledge in the following systems: pneumatic, hydraulic over electrical, powertrain electrical, power plant, understanding and reading of hydraulic/electrical schematics
SKILLS / KEY COMPETENCIES
- Maintain valid driver’s license and ability to pass MVR requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret complex hydraulic and electrical schematics
- Working knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Exercise discretion and independent judgement when handling day to day information
- Excellent time-management skills to plan, organize, manage the team, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities to meet deadlines and adjust to changing priorities
- Ability to work cooperatively across all levels from management to front line workers
- Ability to complete work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure to meet department targets and deadlines
- Able to work non-routine hours, when necessary
- Ability and willingness to travel as required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to work outdoors, exposed to heat and humidity, cold and rain, and around heavy traffic areas
- Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another
- Ability to operate job related tools
- Constantly perform repeating motions that may include feet, leg, wrists, hands and/or fingers
- Work that includes moving and/or lifting objects up to 50 pounds, carry at least 30 pounds and up to 150 pounds with help
- Ability to frequently walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions
