JOB SUMMARY
The Material Coordinator is responsible for a broad range of duties related to inventory management and the oversight of products and materials. They inspect and record shipments of products and equipment and may also handle the processing of maintenance requests and work orders. They identify ways to better organize and expedite shipping and distribution processes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Responsible for the management of inventory, ensuring inventory counts are accurate and stored in the designated location.
- Responsible for placing orders for materials and supplies, scheduling deliveries, and communicating with vendors to ensure orders are received on a timely basis.
- Monitoring inventory levels, usage, and reporting trends to management.
- Identify & pull material from inventory using engineering drawings.
- Load and unload trucks using various forklifts.
- Willing to assist other team members in other material handling functions.
- Respond to emergency supply and equipment request.
- Collaborate with vendors, clients, and co-workers to coordinate incoming materials and service requests to ensure quality and timely delivery.
- Move requested material from manufacturing warehouse into service inventory or directly to a service workstation.
- Maintain appropriate documentation and participate in process improvements and quality improvement programs. Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Managing scrap materials and disposing of them in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all safety procedures and policies while promoting the company’s safety culture.
- Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or GED
- Storage Tank and Fabrication shop experience required
- Basic knowledge of API 650 Storage Tanks & API 653 Repairs is Preferred
- Supervisory skills
- Valid Texas driver’s license & ability to pass an MVR and Background check

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and/or fabrication drawings
- Exercise discretion and independent judgement when handling day-to-day information
- Excellent time-management skills to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities to meet deadlines and adjust to changing priorities
- Ability to work cooperatively across all levels delivering on commitments – results oriented
- Ability to complete work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure to meet department targets and deadlines
- Able to work non-routine hours, when necessary
- Ability and willingness to travel as required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to work outdoors, exposed to heat and humidity, cold and rain, and around heavy traffic areas
- Ability to operate forklifts of various sizes as required for loading/unloading deliveries
- Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another
- Ability to operate job related tools
- Constantly perform repeating motions that may include feet, leg, wrists, hands and/or fingers
- Work that includes moving and/or lifting objects up to 75 pounds unassisted, carry at least 30 pounds
- Ability to frequently walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions
