JOB SUMMARY

The Electrical Apprentice assists the electrician in installing and repairing electrical systems, apparatus, electrical and electronic components of industrial machines and equipment.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assists Journeyman with installation tasks.
  • Reads and interprets drawings, blueprints, and electrical code.
  • Gather tools and supplies to be used at the work site.
  • Measure, cut, and bend wire and conduit, using ruler and hand tools.
  • Ensure compliance of all safety procedures and policies while promoting company’s safety culture
  • Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • One year of electrical experience in an industrial setting preferred
  • Member of ABC Alaska Electrical Apprentice Program
  • Current and valid driver’s license
  • Ability to take and pass a pre-employment drug screening
  • Ability to take and pass a fit-for-duty examination

 

SKILLS / KEY COMPETENCIES

  • Basic knowledge of electrical systems and equipment
  • Basic knowledge on the use of power tools, electrical equipment, and construction equipment
  • Ability to work safely and recognize potential hazards
  • Ability to prioritize work or assignments to complete projects on time
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to receive and follow directions

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to work outdoors, exposed to heat and humidity, cold and rain, and around heavy traffic areas
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another
  • Ability to operate job related tools
  • Constantly perform repeating motions that may include feet, leg, wrists, hands and/or fingers
  • Work that includes moving and/or lifting objects up to 50 pounds, carry at least 30 pounds and up to 150 pounds with help
