JOB SUMMARY
The Electrical Apprentice assists the electrician in installing and repairing electrical systems, apparatus, electrical and electronic components of industrial machines and equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assists Journeyman with installation tasks.
- Reads and interprets drawings, blueprints, and electrical code.
- Gather tools and supplies to be used at the work site.
- Measure, cut, and bend wire and conduit, using ruler and hand tools.
- Ensure compliance of all safety procedures and policies while promoting company’s safety culture
- Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or GED required
- One year of electrical experience in an industrial setting preferred
- Member of ABC Alaska Electrical Apprentice Program
- Current and valid driver’s license
- Ability to take and pass a pre-employment drug screening
- Ability to take and pass a fit-for-duty examination
SKILLS / KEY COMPETENCIES
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems and equipment
- Basic knowledge on the use of power tools, electrical equipment, and construction equipment
- Ability to work safely and recognize potential hazards
- Ability to prioritize work or assignments to complete projects on time
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to receive and follow directions
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to work outdoors, exposed to heat and humidity, cold and rain, and around heavy traffic areas
- Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another
- Ability to operate job related tools
- Constantly perform repeating motions that may include feet, leg, wrists, hands and/or fingers
- Work that includes moving and/or lifting objects up to 50 pounds, carry at least 30 pounds and up to 150 pounds with help
