JOB SUMMARY

The Electrician 2 installs, maintains, and repairs electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment or fixtures based on job specifications and local codes
  • Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components
  • Test electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using testing devices, such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system
  • Use a variety of tools or equipment, such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, testing equipment, such as oscilloscopes, ammeters, or test lamps
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes
  • Installs power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment
  • Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment
  • Connect cables and wire between machine and equipment
  • Diagnose malfunctioning electrical apparatus
  • Replace faulty electrical components of machines such as relays, switches, motors, and position sensing devices
  • Perform daily maintenance and safety checks
  • Ensure compliance of all safety procedures and policies while promoting company’s safety culture
  • Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • At least 3 years’ experience working as an electrician
  • Electrical apprentice license is required and able to pass a Bay craft test if you do not have an NCCER

  • Excellent time-management skills to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities to meet deadlines and adjust to changing priorities
  • Ability to work cooperatively across all levels delivering on commitments – results oriented
  • Ability to complete work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet department targets and deadlines
  • Ability to work non-routine hours, when necessary
  • Ability and willingness to travel as required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to work outdoors, exposed to heat and humidity, cold and rain, and around heavy traffic areas
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another
  • Ability to operate job related tools
  • Constantly perform repeating motions that may include feet, leg, wrists, hands and/or fingers
  • Work that includes moving and/or lifting objects up to 50 pounds, carry at least 30 pounds and up to 150 pounds with help
