JOB SUMMARY
The senior electrician needs to install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment or fixtures based on job specifications and local codes
- Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components
- Test electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using testing devices, such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system
- Use a variety of tools or equipment, such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, testing equipment, such as oscilloscopes, ammeters, or test lamps
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes
- Installs power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment
- Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment
- Connect cables and wire between machine and equipment
- Diagnose malfunctioning electrical apparatus
- Replace faulty electrical components of machines such as relays, switches, motors, and position sensing devices
- Perform daily maintenance and safety checks
- Ensure compliance of all safety procedures and policies while promoting company’s safety culture
- Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or GED required
- At least 5 years’ experience working as an electrician with supervisory skills
- NCCER and an electrical apprentice license required
- Valid Alaska Electrical license, or ability to obtain reciprocity in the state of Alaska
- Ability to take and pass a pre-employment drug screening
- Ability to take and pass a fit-for-duty examination

- Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in construction
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Exercise discretion and independent judgement when handling day to day information
- Excellent time-management skills to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities to meet deadlines and adjust to changing priorities
- Ability to work cooperatively across all levels delivering on commitments – results oriented
- Ability to complete work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure to meet department targets and deadlines
- Ability to work non-routine hours, when necessary
- Ability and willingness to travel as required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to work outdoors, exposed to heat and humidity, cold and rain, and around heavy traffic areas
- Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another
- Ability to operate job related tools
- Constantly perform repeating motions that may include feet, leg, wrists, hands and/or fingers
- Work that includes moving and/or lifting objects up to 50 pounds, carry at least 30 pounds and up to 150 pounds with help
